革翅目 Dermaptera
革翅目(Dermaptera)這個名稱源自希臘語(derma = 皮膚;pteron = 翅膀),指的是前翅的皮膚樣外觀。
The order name Dermaptera is derived from Greek (derma means skin; pteron means wing) and refers to the skinlike appearance of the forewings.

Segmented antennae
Two pairs of wings:
Forewings are short and smooth, modified in elytrum, not functional for flying
Hindwings are membranous and semicircular

The name earwig comes from an old English myth that earwigs crawl into your ears when you are sleeping and lay eggs in your brain. Fortunately, this is only a misunderstanding and comes from the fact that earwigs are nocturnal and like dark crevices.
